A chef-in-training’s culinary blog

Aidan Brooks- Trainee ChefI love visiting food blog. As an avowed foodie without the means to go around the world and taste the culinary offerings of different countries, reading about food is the next best thing to actually experiencing it.

Blogs maintained by actual chefs is a particular joy to read. These guys are in the midst of the culinary world and what they give is an insider’s perspective that you will not find anywhere else. It’s one of the reasons why I love reading Aidan Brooks’ blog.

Brooks’ blog, simply titled “Aidan Brooks: Trainee Chef” is a blog that talks about food from the perspective of a chef in training. Brooks is a 21-year-old chef from Hackney. He is now in Valencia, Spain working as the pastry chef for Restaurante Ferrero, the restaurant owned by Spain’s Chef of the Year 2009 Paco Morales.

Brooks writes about exotic ingredients, different cuisine and the dynamics of working inside a kitchen. It’s an interesting read although it could get a little too long- winded at times.

If you’re a foodie, Brooks’ blog is worth a visit.
