The Agitator

the-agitatorI just posted my thoughts about political blogs that are making a dent in how world affairs are being conducted. Blogs like Iranians’ Blogs that I talked about in a previous post are making significant headway in transforming blogs into a powerful tool for change. I think that using blogs for what could be considered as worthwhile causes is a great way of propagating this new media and showing people that blogs are not just about hobbies or shoutouts.

Another wonderful blog that I just encountered is The Agitator, a blog operated by Radley Balko. The Agitator is Balko’s personal blog, and as such, you’ll see posts on his hobbies and interests (photography, dogs). But what makes this blog really stand out are his posts on civil liberties. Balko is an award-winning investigative reporter who covers the criminal justice system and civil liberties, and this is the real meat of his blog. Consider this blog as a virtual neighborhood watch of what’s happening all across the US that pertains to the violation of a person’s rights. Balko writes with a very insightful tone. You’ll usually leave his blog feeling that you’ve learned something worthwhile for that day — and it’s not just some random kind of information but important ones (isn’t that the best kind?).

Hopefully, Balko will continue writing about the interesting topics that he covers and at some point maybe make it a dedicated blog on the important issues and subjects that he writes so well about.
